Hailee Steinfeld is ready for Valentine’s Day. The ‘Dickinson’ star just got a new manicure from a famous nail artist Tom Bachik, and it’s perfect for those who don’t like overdone nail art. Steinfeld’s nails feature a neutral base and tiny hand-painted white hearts on each finger. Embodying the phrase “less is more,” the minimalist manicure showcases the negative space nail art trend.
“Hand painted white hearts on the perfect nude for @haileesteinfeld 🤍💅🏻,” reads the caption on Bachik’s Instagram post. The base color of the nail polish has a matte finish and almost disappears next to Steinfeld’s skin tone. She chose not to wear gel or acrylic fingertip extensions; instead, her natural nails were cut short and filed down to a rounded edge.
Steinfeld’s take on Valentine’s Day nail art stands in stark contrast to many of the celebrity-loved nail art trends circulating right now, such as the “Kawaii” trend and Y2K-inspired designs. Perhaps it signals a shift in the beauty space: Its simple design comes immediately after Jennifer Lopez’s neutral French manicure, which also happens to be the work of Bachik. Could he be witnessing the departure of extravagant nail art?
